John Hartley— Office Lagoon

11 April 2015  - 24 May 2015

Rivers swell and retreat. Elsewhere banks flounder and temperatures rise. Office Lagoon prepares Departure Lounge for flood and collapse. It breaks down office materials to construct apparatuses for floating and underwater photography. An office is reconfigured into a kayak. Waterproofed flotsam cameras accompany lo-fi hacks and jury rigs.

John Hartley’s research-based arts practice is directed towards water, technologies and imagination. He tries to develop an ecological way of looking to show waves of change in materials and ideas. He finds deep play in breakdown and reconstruction.
