Abi Spendlove— Testing Water

22 April 2015  - 22 May 2015

Abi Spendlove’s work is varied in both medium and subject matter. From detailed drawings and embroideries to ‘drawings’ made by melting balls of inky ice on paper. Her practice explores themes of temporality, memory and communication- often connected with the natural landscape. Abi is interested in the process of creating art and often seeks out opportunities to reveal, share and record the byproducts that appear during creative activity.

During this month-long research residency the artist will create new ice works in the environment of Departure Lounge and will record their shifting structures through photography and drawing.

Spendlove is based in Luton and works as a visiting lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire. She has exhibited internationally and has work included in the Zabludowicz and Franks-Suss collections.
