Invisible in Plain Sight is a new two-part project from American photographer Haley Morris-Cafiero, which will culminate in a major exhibition at Departure Lounge next year.
Morris-Cafiero can be described as part performer, part artist, part provocateur, part spectator, exploring themes of body image, online bullying and social isolation through her photography.

Invisible in Plain Sight examines feelings of invisibility.  The fifteen self-portraits displayed here show Hayley painted and costumed to match the landscape of different urban locations across Luton. Confined to her studio by Covid restrictions, the artist uses maps of Luton as backdrops, providing a sense of place for the often absurd and somewhat unsettling works.  In Spring 2021 Hayley will return to Luton and photograph herself in the same costumes, “painted into” the selected locations, camouflaged in the streetscape, unnoticed by passers-by.

Hayley Morris-Cafiero’s photographs have been widely exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad, and have featured in numerous newspapers, magazines and online including Le Monde, New York Magazine and Salon.
